Custom Reports is a Premium Feature and may not be available on the plan you have purchased.

Managing Custom Reports

Creating and Editing a Custom Report

To create a new report, click “Create new report”. To edit a report, simply click on the “edit” icon next to the name of a previously created report.

When creating a new report, the first thing you need to do is define a name and, optionally, a description. The name of the report must describe it in a short name as best as possible. Depending on your further configuration, the report name will also be used in the reports menu.

Create custom report

Next, you need to define what content you want to see in the report. To do this, first select the view for this report (for example, a table view or a graph of evolution over time), and then the dimensions and metrics you want to see for this report. Table view also allows you to view the report as a bar chart, pie chart, and cloud chart.

Report Content

Dimensions describe characteristics and are usually shown in the first column of a report. You can select up to three dimensions, for example, Device Type and Browser. Metrics, on the other hand, are quantitative measurements. For example, if you want to increase traffic to your website, include "Unique Visitors", “Visits” and “Conversion rate”.

Filter for the Report

Additionally, you can choose to set a filter so that this report only shows results for a subset of your visitors. For example, you can filter a report by mobile device users only. If you are already familiar with segment editor, this will be a direct path for you.

Report Page (Premium Resource)

By default, the created report will be visible in the “Custom Reports” category in the reports menu and a new page for that report will be generated automatically. If you think the report you created is best placed in an existing category, such as “Visitors,” or want to place the report on an existing report page in MVMCloud Analytics, you can do this by choosing the relevant category.

Testing the Report Configuration

When you create a report and are not sure whether the report content configuration provides the results you are looking for, Just click the “Preview Report” button before creating the report. This allows you to quickly check your configuration and prevents you need to return to report configuration later.

Please note that if browser archiving is turned off, it may take up to an hour for the report to become available. The previously mentioned report preview will still work even if browser archiving is turned off.

Viewing Custom Reports

You can view custom reports like any report in MVMCloud Analytics. They even support all the standard features like “Line evolution”, “Recording segmented visits”, “Pivoting” and much more. You can also add any custom report to your dashboard and include it in your scheduled reports.

By default, you find a custom report in the "Custom Reports" category in the reports menu. When configuring a custom report, You can also choose to show a report in any other existing report category or even add a report to any existing report page. If, for example, you choose to create a new custom report that shows more information about countries, You may want to add the report to the "Visitors => Locations" page to quickly view all location reports in one place.
