Funnels (Premium Feature)

A funnel defines a series of actions you hope your visitors will take on their way to converting a goal. By defining a funnel, you can improve your conversion rates, sales, and revenue because you can determine where you lose your visitors in converting your goal.

Why are Funnels so useful?

By defining a funnel, you can improve your conversion rates and revenue because you can determine where you lose your visitors in converting that goal. A funnel provides actionable insights to grow your business:

  • Find out where your visitors have problems;
  • Find out where they don't understand the flow of your website;
  • Find out where a bug occurs on your website or application;
  • Find other problems that hinder the conversion of your goals.

Create and Manage Funnels

For you to Create Funnels you must first have created a Goal, a funnel is always built based on a goal. To create a goal, click on the Goals >> Manage Goals menu. Funnels can be configured when you create or edit a goal and integrates very well with MVMCloud Analytics goal management. For example, in the list of all goals, you can directly see which goals have a funnel set up.

Setting up a funnel

To set up a funnel, click Add a new goal in the bottom left corner or select a previously created goal. The form will ask you to enter the basic goal information as usual, and at the bottom of the form, Additional fields will appear that allow you to configure and validate your funnel. The funnel will update when you click Add Goal or Update Goal like below:

Create funnel

A funnel is, basically, the steps that the visitor must take to reach a certain goal. Each step can be a URL of your website towards completion. Let's use an example of purchasing WordPress Hosting from MVMCloud:

  1. The visitor navigates to the WordPress Hosting description page;
  2. Click on the button to see the available plans;
  3. Choose which plan best meets your needs;
  4. Configure and review purchase details;
  5. Complete the purchase;

Throughout the process of setting up your funnel, MVMCloud Analytics will show help text explaining what each element means and what to do next. This is especially useful when you've never used funnels before.

Validating a funnel

When setting up a funnel, it is critical that you make sure it is set up correctly. That's why we focus on making this step as easy as possible for you compared to other tools on the market. You can enter a URL to visually observe which steps correspond to a given URL and We show you which previously crawled URLs match a step configuration, so you know if your step is configured correctly.

Activating a funnel

The last step is to activate your funnel. After activating a funnel, MVMCloud Analytics will start generating reports for your funnel and a menu item will appear in the interface report user. If you are later no longer interested in this funnel, simply disable it at a later time.

After you activate your funnel, we still recommend testing it manually by going to your website or app, clicking on the path you set up, and making sure the funnel report includes your own visit at each step of the process.

Analyzing funnels

After creation, the funnel will appear in the Funnels menu on the left in the main dashboard:

Analyze funnel

You can click on any funnel title to access the funnel report or select a funnel of your choice from the left menu. A funnel will not appear in this overview or menu if it is not activated.

Each funnel page consists of three different report types:

  • An evolution chart that quickly shows the importance of funnel metrics such as "Funnel Conversion Rate", "Number of Funnel Conversions", "Number of Funnel Entries" and others over time.
  • A funnel summary that shows the most important funnel metrics and objectives, the ability to view the visitor log with all visitors who entered this funnel, and a table that allows you to instantly see how your funnel is set up and working.
  • A funnel report showing where your visitors entered your funnel, where they exited, and how many proceeded to the next step. For each step you can get more information. For example, view referrer details of visitors who entered a step directly, view the visitor log showing visitors who passed through this step, and you can see the evolution of each step to get definitive insights into how each step is performing at the same time. over time.
  • Funnels also enrich a regular goals report by showing an overview and evolution of your funnel. From there, you can view your funnel details with just one click by clicking on the Funnels heading.

Analyze funnel

You can apply segmentation to your funnel reports and funnels also add new segments to MVMCloud Analytics. Additionally, funnel reports work with scheduled reports and personalized alerts.
