Line Evolution
The powerful Line Evolution feature shows a chronologically ordered line chart of your analytical metrics for any line in any report. You can see how the metrics of visits using Firefox or visits coming from Google or almost anything else changes over time. This can allow you to quickly identify any recurring patterns, e.g. highest traffic during the week, as well as getting an idea of the overall trend of the metric over different time periods.
Plus, you can compare these trends to the trends behind other lines to gain even more insights (e.g. comparing the use of two different keywords over time). This can help you understand how your metrics can impact one another. to others and help you draw conclusions about analytical questions.
Where to Find Line Evolution Charts
There are two main types of evolution graphs in MVMCloud Analytics. The first are the standard Evolution Charts that you normally you will find it at the top level of sections such as Visitor Overview or Acquisition Overview, accessed through the navigation menu main. They display high-level trend lines for the current report section. You will also see these evolution graphs prominently in the Goals and Ecommerce sections if you have enabled one of these features in MVMCloud Analytics.
Access line evolution charts from Sparkline summaries
In sections like Visitor Overview, where there is a sparkline summary card below the progress graph, you can usually click any of the metrics on that summary card to reload the progress chart at the top of the page to display the selected metric. An example can be seen in the screenshot below where clicking on the download count sparkline summary in the Visits Overview box uploaded the downloads and unique downloads metrics to the evolution graph at the top of the page.
